Branch Meetings

The main Branch meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of every month at Lancing Parish Hall, South Street, Lancing, West Sussex. Satellite meetings are held periodically at member’s houses. Contact Trixie Folkard for further details of the satellite meetings.

All members are welcome to attend.

“Vicky Blake is Student of the Year”

Vicky Blake with her parentsAt the Knockhatch event, Branch President Barry Cole and Satellite section chairman Trixie Folkard were pleased to meet Vicky Blake who had recently been named “Student of the Year” at Seaford Head College. Vicky will be continuing her studies at the college and hopes to become a vet. She is currently participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme with the Girl Guides and enjoys all sorts of sporting activities. This was evident at Knockhatch where Vicky participated in bungy jumping, rock climbing and skiing. On the skiing slopes, Vicky, a first timer at this event, was presented with a certificate for successfully completing all of the training tasks and subsequently offered a free follow up lesson.

The Branch wishes Vicky every success in her chosen career, and with the D of E award, and we hope to meet her again in the near future.  Photo shows Vicky with her proud parents.

The Branch is sad to announce the passing of 4 of it’s long standing members and former Branch Officers.

Adrian Scriven, former PRO, charity worker and keen quiz team member passed away in June after a long illness. During his long service as the Branch PRO, Adrian won many quarterly and annual awards for his excellent coverage of the Branch’s activities.  Adrian also used his extensive general knowledge to help the Branch win the Regional quiz on 5 out of the last 7 years

Geoff Cotton and his wife Maureen passed away in June and July.  Geoff was a member of the Branch Finance committee and Branch Auditor for many years.  Maureen & Geoff were regular helpers at Branch charity events until illness forced their retirement.
