£700 Presented to Safe Anchor
Andrea Scrutton, Branch President & Judith Oldfield,
Chair of the Branch Community Involvement Committee had the great
pleasure of visiting Safe Anchor on one of their Santa Special days
where their volunteers create a magical winter wonderland with its
very own Santa’s grotto. Children from nurseries and schools
for children with learning difficulties and disabilities are
invited to visit; they get to meet Santa and a host of characters
such as Spider Man, Captain America, Rudolph and even Pudsey
Bear.
During the morning Andrea and Judith presented
a cheque for £700 to Jane Gummer, Chair of Safe Anchor Trust and
Roger Wood one of the Trustees of the charity.
The money the Branch raised will be used to
buy suitable chairs for elderly to take trips on their newest boat,
‘The Lady’.
‘The Lady’ is currently being refurbished and will feature a
wheelchair lift, disabled toilet facilities and much more to enable
this charity to provide better facilities for the groups who take
advantage of their trips.
