Successes
Brunelcare Care Home Glastonbury
Our team of 13 willing Forester volunteers,
one of whom was joining us for the very first time, spent a number
of days throughout June and July at the Care Home. The
initial task, taking only part of a weekend, was to redecorate a
corridor in one of the first floor wings. The ambitious
venture was the creation of a 37 square metre patio which included
the laying of 2 tonnes of aggregate and 3 tonnes of sand as well as
the 182 paving slabs - quite a task for complete novices – and then
there were two large planters constructed from railway sleepers and
filled with plants! When completed, we supplied three sets of
patio furniture complete with parasols. The residents
thrilled with their new acquisition has affectionately named it
‘Mendip Plaza’. It was officially
opened by The Mayor & Mayoress of Glastonbury at the home’s
annual Summer Fete held on Saturday 26 July (see photos below).
All the hard work was well worth the effort
when we saw the looks on the faces of the residents – they are
absolutely delighted.
