A Regional Councillor’s position is a varied
one, as this brief report by Maureen McGregor shows.
“We attend RC Meetings every 6 weeks
sometimes there is so much business that we have a working lunch.
We have teleconferences, training meetings & make reports
depending on our committees.
We are Liaison Officers to two Branches
& attend their meetings 3 times a year & keep in touch by
phone, emails, & help at their events if required. We conduct
their elections and install their Officers. We head various
sections such as Quizzes, Green Bowls, Ladies Section, Days out
& Holidays at home & abroad to mention a few.
The President, Vice President, Secretary
& Treasurer do all this besides fulfilling their own
positions.
Maureen ends with “I am lucky I have a
husband who works with me. He will even cook dinner if I am sorting
papers or sitting in front of the computer again”.
We all rely on our other halves to carry us
through.
