London & Southern England Regional Council Quadrennial Assembly

At the recent L&SE Regional Council Assembly held at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon on 27 September, Isis won the Centennial Award for Best Branch for Community and Charity Effort.  As well as winning this Shield, four of our younger members, namely Rosie, William, Jamie and Jack Smy each received the Foresters Appreciation Certificate for their help given at fundraising events.

Skittles Evening

This fun evening of skittles took place at Study’s Castle on 14 August.  The first half of the evening was a competition for men v women and finished up fairly even.  There was the usual spread of sausages, pork and chicken accompanied by jacket potatoes, chips, potato skins, cauliflower cheese and various salads.  If you had enough room, you could indulge in chocolate gateau or apple crumble.  One of our young players managed three pieces of gateau and one of our more mature players managed to squirt the cream all over the wall!!

The second half of the evening was a “Three Lives” competition, which was won by Charlotte.  We think her success was due to the “bump” which was five weeks from making an appearance into the world.

Drayton Manor Park

On 6 July a group of members and friends visited Drayton Manor Park in Tamworth.  There was a lot to see and do including a zoo, Thomas the Tank Engine Land for the little ones and various rides - our younger members enjoyed the daring ones whilst the more mature of us stuck to the ones which kept us upright!   A good day was had by all, despite it being damp from the sky, as well as from some of the water rides.  .

Everyone returned to the coach with a smile and agreed that it had been a really good day out.

A Taste of Christmas

In November 2007, we visited Shanklin on the Isle of Wight for an enjoyable start toPam Reay the
festive season. Delicious food and plenty of entertainment ensured we had a memorable visit.

Congratulations to two Isis members on winning the competitions – Pam Reay for the best hat and John Reay for the best fancy dress.

Our thanks to Les and Jean Thorington for organizing the weekend.

Regional Council Masked Ball & Presentation Evening at Shendish Manor Hotel, Hemel Hempstead

BallIn October 2007, approximately 120-150 people attended the Region’s Trophy
Masked Ball, the majority of whom wore face-masks – the accompanying photos are of Roger and Denise & Robin and Brenda – yes, honestly!

After a three-course meal the presentations took place, followed by dancing. The highlight of the event for us it was when Isis was presented with a trophy for our efforts in collecting Foil in aid of charity.

The other photo shows Roger receiving trophy.

Ball

A very enjoyable evening was had by one and all.  Many ‘old’ friends were found and new ones made.
