Welcome to Members of Heathrow.

We are coming to the end of another successful year for the Branch, and I thank the officers for their work and commitment.  We have had some very enjoyable outings and events and have picked up a few Trophies and Awards along the way.  At the Regional Council Assembly in September I was very pleased to accept another one, this time for coming third in the Stampede Competition.  Also Joyce Marsh was presented with a certificate for her work as Branch PRO.  This is a new award issued for the first time this year, so well done Joy and congratulations from us all.  Congratulations also go to Nana Boakye-Ansah and Nicholas Howe, two of our younger members who were awarded Forester Scholarships.  It was a pleasure to meet them and their parents at a recent Branch meeting when I presented them with their certificates.  We wish them well with their future studies and chosen careers.

Delegates from the Branch attended the Regional Council Assembly at Croydon and heard various reports on events over the past four years.  A moving memorial was held in memory of loved ones who had passed away.  We heard that a staggering £740,000 has been raised for charity and saw some snippets of the events that members arranged to raise this money.  A speaker, Mrs Kay, gave a very enjoyable talk on Childhood Games evoking some happy memories for most of us.  After the Regional Council were duly elected, they were installed by the International Fraternal President, Bernard Bloom.  Our congratulations go to Maureen MacGregor who was re-elected to the Council and also elected as a representative to the International Assembly next year.

I extend a warm welcome to all members who have joined Heathrow Branch recently and hope that you will join us at some of our events, you will be most welcome.  To all our members, I wish you a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Peaceful New Year.

Vernon Elmes, Branch President
