Successes
‘Dad’s Army’ Trail, Thetford followed by Bressingham
Steam Museum
Despite the
gloomy forecast, we enjoyed warm sunshine on our trip to Thetford
where the series ‘Dad’s Army’ was filmed. Very informative
guides took us around the town showing where various episodes of
the series were filmed, backed up with photo shots of the stars
performing where we were standing. Photo on left –
Captain Mainwaring never looked as glamorous as this! Pat and
Rosemary at Captain Mainwaring’s desk.
In this
photo the guide explained that in front of these cottages the scene
was filmed of the platoon marching along when Jones had a bomb in
his trousers, which was tied to a piece of string.
At Bressingham Steam
Museum in the loco shed – an engine named “Thundersley” which was
used on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway from 1911 to
1956.
The raffle on the coach raised £60 for the
Essex Air Ambulance and a good day was had by all!

Tour
of Parlia
ment & Thames
Boat Trip - 4 April 2008
The tour of the Houses of Parliament was very interesting - it
was an amazing feeling to actually be there although both Chambers
seemed smaller in reality than they appear on TV. The gold
Throne and surround in the House of Lords was quite breath
taking. The weather was warm and sunny for our cruise on the
Thames - we were sorry when we reached Greenwich, our destination.
Sorry to disappoint those members who applied after the coach was
full.

£54 was raised by the raffle on the coach for The Essex Air
Ambulance.
