Family Outing to Cricket St Thomas
In the words of the old song "Didn't we have a loverely time the
day we went to .... Cricket St Thomas". We booked the bus, we
arranged for the entry tickets and ordered good weather. And
everything worked out perfectly, even though we had to phone ahead
to get Phil and Colin out of bed a bit earlier to meet us at Newton
Abbott.
Having arrived a little ahead of time Kevin, our driver, was a
little concerned about getting the coach through the gates, but
that was easy compared to squeezing between two large oak trees
halfway down the drive. A few of us thought we might have to
move one of them a couple of feet, but Kev "gave it a go" greased
down the side of the coach and drove it through like a true
professional.
Everyone said it was a wonderful day blessed with great weather,
even the animals were on their best behaviour to give us a good
show - well except two of the lemurs who were determined to escape
using the visitors exit. We also saw big cats, lots of birds,
especially ostrich, rheas and emus, monkeys and the camels and
reindeer were in particularly good condition.
Having arrived home in good spirits, several people already had
good ideas for future trips so if anyone else has suggestions
please let us know.
