Successes
Snooker Competition
Fourteen members took part in this year’s
regional Snooker competition held in Leeds. The winner was Bob
Binns of Pennine Way with the runner-up being Eddie Gatrick from
Friendship. Bob Binns also won the trophy for the highest
break.


Charity Golf Day
Our 35th Annual Charity Golf Day was held
at Welshpool Golf Club on the 10th May 2008.
115 entries teed off between 8.00am and 2.30pm
of which 12 were ladies. In the Foresters events the singles
was won by Bob Binns of Pennine Way with John Pettner of Dane
Weaver in the runner-up position. The pairs competition was
won by Bob Binns and Brian Edmundson.
The event raised over £1,000 for the regional charity, the
Association of Children's Hospices.
Flat Green Bowls
Seven teams entered this year’s Flat Green
Bowls competition held at Clarence Gardens Bowling Club, York on
18th May 2008. A very enjoyable day was had by all
competitors and supporters with the team representing Endeavour
emerging the winners with Pennine Way in second place. For
the first time the Regional Council entered a team and finished in
a respectable fourth place.
During the event a raffle raised much needed
funds for the Association of Children's Hospices.


Caravan and Camping Rally
21 units attended this year’s Caravan and
Camping Rally held at Seagrave, in Leicestershire. A full
programme of entertainment was provided, the introduction of
curling proved to be very popular whist the traditional fancy dress
provided some stunning costumes. Once again a raffle was held
in aid of the Association of Children's Hospices.



Regional Quiz Finals
Following three months of exciting postal
rounds 6 adult teams and 3 Young Forester teams reached the finals
which were held in Bradford. The successful adult Branches were
Endeavour, Friendship, Hadrian, Roman Way, Trentham and White Rose
of York. In the junior section Endeavour, Friendship and White Rose
of York were successful in reaching the finals.
All the competitions were hard fought over the
ten rounds with lead teams constantly changing the final winners
emerged as in the main competition Endeavour, in the plate
competition Roman Way with the Young Forester competition being won
by Endeavour with White Rose being awarded the plate trophy by one
point.
