John Gillespie
UK Group Finance Director
John has been with Foresters since April 1995 when he joined as
General Manager- Finance. His first objectives were to co-ordinate
the arrangements for seeking approval of Forester Life Limited to
become an authorised life assurer, to transfer the Life book of
business from the UK Foresters Branch to Forester Life and to
implement the new corporate structure in the UK headed by
Forester Holdings (Europe), all by the end of 1995.
In subsequent years he oversaw the assimilation into the group
reporting and financial structure of Forester Health, which was
acquired in 1997, and Forester Investments, which was activated in
year 2000 to become the approved corporate director of an Open
Ended Investment Company.
He was appointed a Director of the Foresters
UK group of companies in September 1998 and is currently
responsible for group support functions covering Actuarial,
Compliance, Facilities, Finance, Marketing and Systems.
John qualified as a Chartered Accountant in
1968 and in 1969 commenced his career in the financial services
industry, primarily with unit linked insurance groups.
He is married to Ros and has four children,
whose various activities keep him in a virtually permanent state of
astonishment, apprehension and pride! His pastimes are
walking, jogging, watching rugby, football and cricket and trying
to keep his garden under control.
